Book23/2/2016 The past has been written. Unable to erase it or tear the pages. Forever ingrained. The future uncertain but there are blank pages to fill. Fear. Excitement. I choose excitement.
OGW Game Day13/2/2016 There was no game day as the store is new. I expected a quiet day predicting players would be playing the event across different stores but nooooo work started immediately the moment I reached. It gained momentum and lasted until dinner time. I am thankful to be busy and have work to do. Guess I am doing something right. Will work hard and sustain it. More to come!!
Magic Online Oath of the Gatewatch3/2/2016 Been awhile since I played online and being down with chicken pox allowed me the opportunity to get back on it. Had 8 tix left so I purchased 50 more and thought of getting 3 sealed events worth. It cost 26 tickets per event but I really do not think I am that bad a player to not at least win another entry. Played 2 prerelease: 3-1, 4-0. Played 3 release: 3-1, 2-2, 2-2. Made mistakes for the last 2 events and lost out 12 packs as potential winnings.
Prerelease prize structure 4 wins 11 OGW packs 3 wins 5 OGW packs 2 wins 1 OGW pack Release prize structure 4 wins 8 OGW 4 BFZ packs 3 wins 6 OGW 3 BFZ packs 2 wins 2 OGW 1 BFZ packs Aim for 3 wins as the prizes would cover a substantial amount of the cost. By selling away the packs for 3.5 tix each to bots (online robot program traders) it will fetch us 17.5 and 31.5 tix. Release events pays much better than prerelease. Don't forget we still have cards for sale too. I have 99 tickets currently so I'm up 41 (99 - 58 = 41). Gonna do a simple calculation. Cost for event: (-26) x 5 = (-130) Prize packs: 5 + 11 + 9 + 3 + 3 = 31 (31 x 3.5 = 108.5 tix) Total cost: (-130) + 108.5 = (-21.5) Therefore I managed to sell 62.5 tix worth of cards to be up 41 tickets (41 + 21.5 = 62.5). I was pretty lucky to have gotten cards of high value (above 8 tix) to allow me to cover costs but if we factor in possibility of getting crap rares for all 5 pods (30 rares) I would be left with around 38 tix (58 - 20 = 38) which is good for one more (presume the 30 crap rares fetch 1.5 tix for simplicity). It seems likely that the end game would be me being left with low amount of tickets and chaff from unsold cards if things do not turn out well which I think occurs to most of us but I am playing for fun and play to the best of my abilities to sustain my hobby. If you are trying to grind it out and go infinite, it would be much better to get a full time job. Why? 1 event about 4 hours 5 events takes approximately 20 hours 41 tix / 20 hours = 2.05 tix per hour If we add the 12 packs I would have won if not for play error 12 x 3.5 = 42 42 + 41 = 83 83 / 20 = 4.15 tix per hour I wanted to be a pro but I am not good enough. I did not have the right mentality to succeed and after finally qualifying for a Pro Tour 3 years ago I went there as if on holiday. I wasted that one chance to try make it big and I failed. Thus I got my feet on the ground and concentrate on work now instead of grinding it online. Gave up the dream to chase another. If anyone reading this wants to try be a Pro, give it a try. Dream big. Work hard for it. I get mocked often for dreaming but I did achieve that small dream of at least having played at a Pro Tour which some might never reach. Let no one stop you.
